April Glossybox

I received my April Glossybox today which sort of made it a May box... but ah well. This month with Glossybox had been a bit of a disaster seeing as they 'merged' with Lust Have It. I don't think Glossybox had gone too well in the customer service department, or really delivered the quality of products other sample boxes had so far, so it wasn't a surprise to me that this ended up happening.

My March box was disappointing to say the least. I didn't have much use for the items sent to me (not much matched my beauty profile I filled out) and some I felt were just chucked in to fill up space. So I was hoping they would redeem themselves with Aprils. It wasn't horrible... but it definitely could have been a lot better.

This month's came in the standard baby pink box with their emblem on it, I've seen a lot of people complaining already on Lust Have It's Facebook page that they are annoyed that they won't be getting the Glossybox boxes. I see where they're coming from, they are very pretty but if you want a box like that so badly, you can always go to the $2 Shop and buy yourself a bunch just like it...

The one thing Glossybox always got right was the presentation of their boxes. They really did do a wonderful job at making them look professional. It's just once you got past the pretty packaging where they went down hill.

The theme of the month was inspired by Earth Hour so the products contained were to 'celebrate the beauty of nature'. First off were a few coupons, one for $20 off a full sized Crystal Glow Hydrating Powder from beautysurprise.com.au, another for $25 at theiconic.com.au when you spent over $49 and 15% off all full size Integrity Cosmetics skin care at their website.

The first thing I pulled out was the Redwin Organics Moisturiser containing orange & begamot. I personally have enough moisturisers to sink a ship, plus Glossybox had already sent me a sheercover moisturiser last month so this one wasn't too exciting. I'm sure it'll come in handy one day but really this is something I could have bought at a chemist or coles.

Guess what's next... ANOTHER MOISTURISER! This one was Integrity Cosmetics Protecting Moisturiser. Looking at the product list that came in the box I see that we could have gotten a purifying cleanser or rejuvinating serum by Integrity Cosmetics aswell. Now I don't know about the girls at Glossybox, but I would have thought, "We've given this person a Redwin Moisturiser, let's put in one of the other products so there's a bit of variety!" But alas no, have another moisturiser. The smell of this one isn't so wonderful. It has a very peppery scent, and it says on the back of the bottle to apply it on your face, neck and hands. To tell you the truth I wouldn't be able to stand the smell on my face. I do realise it's a bit of a lucky dip with these sample boxes but seriously, enough with the moisturisers already.

I then came across a very strange folded pamphlet that had a picture of a woman on it and I couldn't figure out what it was. I could feel something inside the paper so I opened it up to find a tiny little tube. After reading the paper I now know it's Rosehip Skincare 7 Precious Oils. It goes on about how you can look years younger after applying it and how it contains oils that are rich in vitamins C, A, B, E and minerals that are anti-oxidants for your skin. I'm thinking it's more of a Bio-oil type product than an age defying cream as it says it benefits dry skin, burns, cuts, scars, spots, acne and sun damaged skin and costs up to $60.50 for 60ml. I'll probably just stick to Bio-oil, I know it works from personal experience and it's MUCH cheaper! Interested to have a go with this anyway.

I left the items I really enjoyed for last. As you may know by now, I love a good nail polish. So when I saw the Blush Amour Nail Polish (I'm guessing the colour is  #65 as that's the only thing I can see on the bottle that would tell you what shade it would be) I was quite pleased! It is a really nice colour, I'm not sure about how great the quality will be, I did receive a Blush Amour Lipgloss in my last Glossybox which I didn't really like, the texture wasn't very nice and it felt a little cheap. Although I'm ready to ignore that and give the nail polish a good go!

Last product I have to show you is my favourite!  It's the Mirenesse Tight Liner Hydra Gel Eye Liner in Sapphire Blue (which seems to be spelt incorrectly on the liner! Oopsy!). I LOVE liquid liners, I use black liquid liner every day and have actually never gone for any other colour than black so I'm really excited to get something a little different. The colour looks lovely and is quite hard to get off, after swatching it on my hand I tried wiping it off with a wet wipe and it hardley budged. Which is great if you don't want it coming off during the day, not so great if you put it on and think 'Oh God what have I done!?'.

Overall, I'm happy that Glossybox has merged with Lust Have It. I really do think Glossybox struggled to meet their customers expectations and really did need to step up their game. I was hoping they'd go out with a bang this month but it was a bit of a fizzle for me. I'm sure every product included is great for someone, but I think overall they could have put a bit more variety into the box.

I'm really looking forward to seeing how Lust Have It is, I've heard wonderful reviews so I'm quite excited!

What did you think of Glossybox?

  2. My box was terrible: (tiny, nail polish sized) Nivea cream, a block of peppermint soap, a destressing pulse point aromatherapy roller, Uandi age reversal cream and thermal protection spray. I will use... the moisturiser. Maybe.

    1. Oh that sounds horrible! Glossybox really didn't care too much about whether their customers were happy or not did they? Oh well, on to new beginnings with Lust Have It! :D

  5. Ripped off, I only got two coupons haha! I liked the liner, and I was fairly happy with the moisturisers because I like that kind of thing.. but it was a real let down. This was their last box, they couldn't throw in something amazingly awesome for us loyal customers? :P

    1. Most of the coupons are either expired or nearly expired anyway haha. Yeah I was hoping for something exciting aswell but oh well, hopefully Lust Have It will be super awesome now that they have so many brands to pick from!

  6. Good work on being even handed with your review. I almost feel like negative comments from Glossybox customers kind of fueled the fire. Like one customer would see a bad review and become REALLY unhappy with their box when they were only moderately unhappy with it to begin with. I had the same experience with the company failing to take my beauty profile into account when sending me products. I received blonde hair treatments for my red hair on several occasions for instance. It's a shame Glossybox had to finish on such a bad note towards the end there (late postage, so so products, deleting all posts off their Facebook wall). I feel like, being an older company, Lust Have It will provide better service and products. I was very happy with this month's bag from them (complete with bath tonic, sea salt spray, facial products, tinted moisturiser and rose gold cosmetic glitter.) From experience, Bellabox are also really great. They're relatively quick and thorough with their customer service and really care about sending products that match your profile.

On another note, I really hope I don't get another Mirenesse liner. Glossybox is notorious for repeating products. I already got the liner in the December box!

    1. Yeah I saw some people on the Facebook page upset with every item they got, I mean you can't expect to be stoked with every single item but surely you can find a positive in something. It is a sample box, so you have to treat it like a lucky dip!

It definitely got a little embarrassing at the end, they pretty much completely ignored any questions that were posted and were unreachable until after they took our money and sent the boxes.

I'm looking forward to Lust Have It, they seem to have great products each month! I'm with Bellabox at the moment and I'm loving them.

If you do end up getting the liner hopefully it's atleast a different colour to last time? Here's hoping!
